The study examines the benefits blogging has in a traditional visual arts course. The research investigates the effectiveness of blogging as a tool for analyzing and discussing works of art in a traditional high school art curriculum. The research considers how the implementation of a classroom blog can increase students' level of engagement through analysis and discussion of artwork. The data is collected from a series of blogging assignments focusing on art analysis. The study takes place in a secondary level, ninth grade art classroom. As an art educator of the 21st century the researcher's goal is to determine whether student engagement is increased when discussing an artwork through a classroom blog instead of the traditional written format where students respond independently to an artwork.
