With its history of British colonialism, Bahamian tourism is unique and sees a very particular set of tourism impacts. Cruise-based tourism impacts every aspect of Bahamian life. Examining existing literature led to the discovery that there are gaps in existing literature, particularly in terms of how tourists perceive the implications of cruise-based tourism in the Bahamas. For the purpose of this study, a survey was developed to gather tourists perceptions to determine whether tourists are aware of the environmental implications of cruise-based tourism in the Bahamas. Findings of the survey illustrated that tourists appear to be somewhat aware of the impacts, without being aware that they are implicated as responsible for them through their activities as cruise-based tourists. Results of this study should be considered in order to promote a more sustainable and equitable tourism industry in the Bahamas.
