This study investigated the knowledge base and influence certified child life specialists (CCLSs) had on healing environments in healthcare settings. The current research project surveyed 81 currently practicing CCLSs regarding their knowledge of healing environments, and the link between their clinical practice and healing spaces. Further areas explored in this research included current theories of healing environments, challenges child life specialists (CLSs) face when influencing patient environments, and intervention methods specialists' use. Results indicated that CLSs had a firm understanding of the various components of healing environments and that their interventions and care plans were often aimed at influencing these healing spaces to support patient's well-being and healing. Further results indicated that CLSs tailored their interventions and relationships to meet specific patient needs. This study revealed that the practice of child life aligns with current theories on providing sensitive healing environments in healthcare settings.
