Reinventing the Americans is a visual critique that portrays the effects of social trends on the American population, in order to reveal how they can cloud issues of greater importance. This thesis conveys this message by equating critical issues in America, such as overpopulation, the deprecation of the dollar, and rampant consumerism with social trends such as cute cat photos, sexual innuendos, and end of the world propaganda. The juxtaposition of opposing forces reveals a moral dilemma within society that places the viewer in the position of choosing what subject matter has greater significance.
