Modernism brought about many cultural changes due to shifts in economics, social structures, and new philosophical thought. Many of these advances were illustrated in the Hollywood monster films of the 1930s. Films such as Frankenstein, Dracula, and King Kong exemplified modernist critiques and anxieties by using the symbolism of the monster to illuminate modernist ideals.
