This report gives an overview of the time spent at the Capital District Area Labor Federation to better understand the Labor Policy MA program for SUNY Empire State College. Based on my studies, there was a clear indication that the labor movement was dying out. I approached my experience by assessing the union movement's efforts to gain interest from the community, focusing on the younger generation. I became involved in different areas of interest such as: participating in labor related public policy, political campaigns, community outreach, and their efforts to attract a younger generation. I learned that while they are involved in numerous efforts that impact their members, they need to do a better job of educating the importance of it. Since the younger generation is losing out on living wage jobs, it's the best time to educate and engage young workers to be part of the labor movement.
