Suicide among Asian youth in the child welfare system continues to be viewed by society as an uncommon occurrence. With many challenges and barriers faced by Asian youth once they enter the system, it is evident that suicide prevention services are needed. The purpose of this project was to create a grant proposal to fund a suicide prevention program for Asian youth in the child welfare system served at Asian Pacific Family Center in Rosemead, California. The goal is to develop a program that will enhance communication and establish collaboration among the child welfare system, community mental health, law enforcement, school systems, parents, legal guardians and foster parents. An examination of current and past literature was reviewed to support the need for more suicide prevention services for this population. Submission of the grant proposal and successful obtainment of funding is not required for successful completion of this thesis project.
