Bullying has always been a concern in education and teachers have struggled to find ways to improve the climate of the classroom through positive conflict management. If large steps aren't taken in the classroom to improve community and problem solving capabilities then learning is affected. Children can't learn in a hostile environment where they don't feel safe. This paper focuses on the strategies and outcomes of peer mediation. Peer mediation constitutes an important part of conflict management strategies in schools. Many schools attempt to use peer intervention as a tool to teach positive conflict management. Peer mediation is one option that has shown to be successful at creating a feeling of peace and community in the schools it is utilized.
