The goal of this study was to explore higher education faculty members' self-perception of their skills to create and use digital content in the classroom. Faculty members were asked about their attitudes toward technology and digital content and to rate technology applications on their importance to their professional work. The ability to understand faculty members' experiences and attitudes using technology and digital content is important to colleges and universities as decisions are made on how to use the limited resources available for the purchase of new technology and leaning materials. This is a critical time as students' access textbooks in digital formats increases. The quantity of new developments in digital technology and the effect they have on teaching and learning in higher education is difficult to conceptualize (Lai, 2011). The key findings revealed that faculty members find technology important to their professional work and have a favorable attitude toward technology and digital content use as an instructional strategy. Demographic groups based on tenure and age provided differences in the technology applications deemed important, but gender did not matter significantly in this study. The findings of this study will provide understanding of the existing needs to help faculty members increase the use of digital content in the teaching and learning environment.
