The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between leadership styles, satisfaction with the leader, and leadership effectiveness as perceived by subordinates from multiple generations. Using its quantitative background and the need for supplementary empirical research in the area of leadership styles, employees' satisfaction, and leadership effectiveness in the workplace, this study presented key findings needed to help bridge the gap in the knowledge in this field. The primary goal of this research was to inform leaders and organizations how leadership styles influenced team members' satisfaction with their leader, as well as leadership effectiveness. A secondary goal was to provide insight on the significance that leadership style has on a leader's ability to motivate subordinates to perform at their highest potential. The total number of respondents who participated in this study was 258; however, only 196 successfully completed the survey. Participants were recruited from links posted on Facebook and LinkedIn. All participants were United States based working adults only who ranged between the ages of 18-75. The data collected was analyzed using Pearson correlation and descriptive statistics. Because of this study's findings, the null hypothesis was rejected; therefore, the alternative hypothesis was accepted. This indicated that a significant relationship exists among leadership styles, satisfaction with the leader, and perceived leadership effectiveness among Gen Y, Gen X, and Baby Boomer employees, but not among Traditionalists. This study was based on a sample of 196 subordinate employees in the United States who were surveyed using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ), an existing reliable and validated survey research instrument which measures leadership styles.
