Thesis (M.S.)--Texas A&M University - Kingsville, 2013.
This qualitative study was intended to explore the overlap in professional judgments across the disciplines of education, speech-language pathology, and school psychology. The judgments were measured using qualitative analysis techniques, a rating scale, as well as contrasting overlap when judges were instructed in using a common tool to rate communicative intent. Two groups of participants were formed: Group 1 and Group 2. Participants in Group 2 were asked to use The Communication Matrix, developed by Charity Rowland, as a tool when making their judgments. All participants viewed videos via internet sources and were asked to judge these interactions. Results provided information regarding the clinical judgments of collaborating professionals and whether a discrepancy between professionals existed.
