Recently there has been a push in the media for regulation of the auction market, specifically third party guarantees. There has been no extensive research done on this particular auction mechanism in regards to how often they are used and the extent to which they could affect the art market. This thesis focuses on analyzing third party guarantees and the potential methods of regulation. As a result of the research ensued, this thesis argues against regulation of third party guarantees.
