The present work focused on two related areas: (1) electron-transfer induced hapticity changes in polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) complexes and the consequent formation of syn-facial bimetallics; (2) the chemistry of pi-bonded quinonoid complexes of manganese and rhodium, and their use in catalysis and in the construction of supramolecular coordination networks. Very exciting results were obtained that we think will have a significant impact in the areas of inorganic-organometallic hybrid materials, catalysis (carbon-carbon coupling, water-gas-shift), nanoparticle self-assembly, and organometallic electron transfer reactions.
