The current study examines social support as a mediator of Muslim identity, dress adherence, and college adjustment among Muslim American women. The study surveyed 70 participants regarding their adherence to specific Islamic dress requirements, self-identification as Muslims, perceived social support, and adjustment to college. Multiple regression analysis revealed that college adjustment was significantly associated with perceived social support, but not with Muslim identity or Islamic dress adherence. Additional analyses showed the majority of participants reported pride and satisfaction in being Muslim American and following Islamic practices, although most respondents were not highly involved with Muslim Student Associations. Although study results did not support the hypotheses tested, the study did focus on a population that has been underrepresented in the literature examining predictors of college adjustment.
