The purpose of the project was meant to engage teachers, administrators, parents and stakeholders in proactive conversations around effectiveness in the classroom, overall school improvement, and student achievement for the State of California. The project aligned the California Standards for the Teaching Profession to a teacher evaluation and professional development process inspired by existing models from North Carolina and New Hampshire. As a result, the Teacher Effectiveness Model was created to serve as a blueprint for California schools to utilize.
