"Everything you need to know about life is in the movies" seems to be a predominant perspective in much of culture today. Yet, films, especially commercial films, have not played a prominent role in formal entertainment-education (E-E) productions. In the meantime, blockbuster films, especially franchises and its transmedia texts, like Star Wars, Harry Potter , The Lord of the Rings, and now Avatar are having huge cultural penetration, cultural influence, and commercial success. This study uses a primarily quantitative triangulation approach to study audience involvement with Walden Media's The Chronicles of Narnia film series as an entertainment-education transmedia commercial enterprise. Audience involvement is used as an umbrella term for the processes of transportation, parasocial interaction (PSI), and identification. Results indicate that audience involvement plays a primary role in the success or failure of entertainment and educational goals. This study expands the E-E audience involvement literature to commercials films and transmedia storytelling.
