Thesis (M.A.)--University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2011.
Statistics instructors and researchers have developed many ways to aid students in their learning of statistics through technology, such as websites, computer simulations, multimedia presentations, and more. This study explores individual differences and the effects of these differences on usage of a statistics website, especially in conjunction with new platforms, such as mobile devices (i.e. smart phones and iPods). Furthermore, the individual differences that are explored in this study are technology acceptance, cognitive absorption, attitudes towards statistics, user satisfaction, and statistics comprehension. This exploratory study looks to aid in the improvement of a website for both computer and mobile device usage, and offer suggestions for similar websites. A positive correlation between attitudes toward statistics and statistics comprehension was found. There was also positive correlation between attitudes toward statistics and cognitive absorption. These findings have interesting and important implications for improving current statistics education technology.
