Thesis (M.Des.)--Ontario College of Art & Design (Canada), 2013.
This paper explores the feasibility of designing a digital interaction tool for the purpose of providing face-to-face collaboration experiences through the use of tangible tabletop interaction and interactive multimedia. This paper explored the opportunities and challenges of designing a playful learning activity for young children of around seven to twelve years old, with the goal of allowing children to collaboratively create digital art using motion graphics and sound. The inspiration of the thesis prototype came from various academic sources, projects and existing commercial products, and their characteristics and implications for future development were explored. The research looked at theories of playful learning experiences for children, as well as the positive effectiveness of tangible tabletop interaction and interactive multimedia for children's face-to-face collaboration. Reactivision technology was used to implement the interactive tabletop project.
