Stakeholders are calling for more accountability and student achievement; therefore, it logically makes sense that we want all of our schools to provide an environment conducive to both teaching and learning. The purpose of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) is to focus on accountability and to produce better educational results for all children, which includes identifying struggling schools and turning them around (Taylor, 2008). To increase student achievement, administrators need to develop new cultures in their schools. This executive position paper respectfully proposes a plan for increasing positive school climate thus, increasing student achievement in urban school setting with respect to Camden City School District (CCSD). By implementing this plan to CCSD, poor student conduct and violence may decrease, which would create an environment conducive to both teaching and learning. Students will then acquire a sense of belonging and wish to remain at their current school and teachers will obtain the necessary ingredients for a culture of achievement.
