Thesis (M.A.)--Regent University, 2012.
This work will explore the background, beginnings, and barriers of the Anglican Mission in the Americas. Specifically, it will examine the movement's Church of England roots and offer a brief historical and theological overview of the Church of England. Additionally, the beginnings of the AMiA movement and the reasons behind its inception will be highlighted. Finally, the issue of women's ordination and its possible future impact on North American Anglicanism will be investigated. As a result of this analysis, I argue that breakaway Anglican groups, such as AMiA, will need to wrestle with the issue of ecclesiastical authority versus theological authority and will encounter similar difficulties as the greater Anglican Communion in holding diverse groups together in unity as social and cultural factors continue to assail the Church.
