The purpose of this project was to design a comprehensive support program in Kern County for victims of domestic violence. The project required the writer to identify a potential funding source, and write a grant to fund the program where victims and their families can go for supportive services. There are a variety of risk factors that contribute to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking such as emotional abuse, substance abuse, and mental health. Ethnicity, race, age, and economic status do not play a factor in whether or not a person becomes a victim at some point in their lives. This proposed program aims at ending the cycle of violence through legal advocacy, education, counseling and supportive services, beginning the healing process and promoting self-sufficiency for a non-violent future. Actual submission and/or funding of this grant were not required for successful completion of this thesis project.
