Thesis (M.S.W.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2013.
The purpose of this project was to design a school-based program, identify potential funding sources, and write a grant to fund a multifaceted support system that incorporates mental health services, social skills, conflict resolution skills, bully prevention, and parent engagement in the schools. This project consists of an extensive literature review regarding factors that may interfere with academic learning and the evidence-based models that provide prevention and intervention to increase learning and social development. A search for potential funding sources included the Internet and grant databases. The Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Program grant was identified as the best potential funding source to meet the purpose of this program. Hence, a grant proposal was written to support this school-based support program at an elementary school.
