This study explored the gender differences in attitudes toward marriage in undergraduate college students while measuring their romantic ideation, attachment style, and marital myths in marriage. Participants were 40 undergraduate students enrolled at a private liberal arts college within the San Francisco Bay Area. Empirical quantitative research was conducted by gathering self-report measures: (a) a demographic questionnaire; (b) the Marriage Quiz, designed by Larson (1984); (c) Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) (Fraley, Waller, & Brennan, 2000); and (d) Romantic Beliefs Scale (RBS) (Sprecher & Metts, 1989). Statistical analysis was conducted to determine if there was a gender difference in attitudes toward marriage and if there was a relationship between romanticism, marital myths, and attachment style. Although not statistically significant, results indicated a gender difference between attitudes; men were less romantic, had more marital myths, and were more avoidant in their attachment style than women.
