Thesis (M.A.)--Mills College, 2012.
This research explores the perspectives of the teachers, administrators and parents views on the Community-Teacher Partnership in the Reggio Emilia-Inspired schools around the San Francisco Bay Area. The Reggio Emilia approach was originally founded in Italy in 1945 by Loris Malaguzzi. Since the schools of Reggio were founded and constructed by the parents, this approach completely emphasizes parental involvement which is carefully structured and integrated into the Reggio School system. Each school has a classroom parent group, and a school parent group which is ultimately run by the municipal management. Bearing in mind the unique nature of the socio-cultural makeup of preschool settings in the U.S., my primary goal for this research is to specifically examine the perspectives of teachers', administrators', and parents' views of the community-teacher partnership within their schools settings.
