Thesis (Ph.D.)--The University of Texas at Dallas, 2013.
What organizational structures, administrative processes, and cultural variables are prevalent within hybrid-enterprise organizations (HEOs)? HEOs possess bilateral missions involving both economic and social market failures. This study concerned HEO sustainability due to strategic innovation, empathetic entrepreneurship, and administrative competence. Results from use of the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) involving socially-responsible members of the housing industry were used to evaluate propositions. Results demonstrate that cultural factors combine with administrative processes to sustain valuable HEOs. Organizational culture is responsible for administrative processes and structural forms employed by HEOs. For HEOs, innovation and empathy appear to be the most important cultural variables, and creativity and collaboration are the most significant factors for establishment of administrative processes. Strategic innovation, empathetic entrepreneurship, and administrative competence result in positive returns on HEO-based investments in resources and associated capabilities.
