This study suggests that the baby boomer surge into "traditional older adulthood," which began in January 2011, should serve as a wake-up call to the church that a revitalized ministry paradigm for older adults must be developed. The youthful-thinking boomers, who do not consider themselves older adults, have very little interest in the current design of most older adult ministries. The church can respond to this problem and challenge by developing a new boomer-mandated ministry paradigm for adults over fifty. This new paradigm will minister effectively with both builders and boomers because it is Biblically based, demographically informed, and sensitive to the characteristics, perspectives, interests, and values of both groups. Further, the new paradigm entitled, "Legacy Adult Ministries," has two parts: Median Adults Ages Fifty to Sixty-Five (Boomers), and Mature Adults Ages Sixty-Six Years Plus (Builders). Finally, the new paradigm includes components that are both age-specific and intergenerational in nature.
