520 $a The first of these two studies analyzes the pattern of housing tenure choice of Korean households. This study makes the following two contributions: first, this study marks the very first time that a logit model that combined housing tenure choice and the choice of family structure was employed in a case study of Korea. Second, this study separated the sample into three categories and conducted an empirical analysis of each category. It is anticipated that the findings of this study will help the government establish housing related policies.
520 $a The second study was designed to measure the relationship between fertility and labor force participation of married women. With this in mind, the study estimated the degree to which childbirth decreased the likelihood of married women's participating in economic activities. Generally, an endogeneity problem is known to exist between fertility and labor force participation of married women. However, this study was able to resolve this problem by using an instrumental variable. This study is unique in that it employed the sex of the first child as the instrumental variable.
