The purpose of this thesis is to examine in narrative form the personal experiences of Hispanic man who became a single father to three minor children following separation and divorce. The narrative explains the challenges faced by the writer at finding himself alone with three children, and the choices faced regarding their care. Aspects of single parenthood are examined, compared, and contrasted with single parenthood by single mothers. Social, cultural, and economic factors are also examined through review of literature on single parenthood in general and single fatherhood in particular. The writer's development of the narrative along with social work implications are discussed.
