This research examined children's wh-question production in relation to questions parents ask, questions the children ask, and grammaticality of the children's wh-questions. Children hear their parents ask questions constantly; therefore, children should produce questions similar to what they hear on a daily basis. Since children's language is still rapidly developing and their language is frequently about their immediate environment, certain wh-questions should come in at various times. This study investigates the order in which wh-questions generally are acquired in terms of production and then when the wh-questions are produced grammatically correct. Children between the ages of 3 and 5 participated in the study and parents completed a brief survey. The parents kept a record of the children's questions and the researcher recorded questions while observing the children. Parental input and increased frequency of parental questions plays a role in children's development of wh-question production.
