The aim of this study is to compare the content in Spanish and Mexican educational units are collected on a particular theme: the Conquest of Mexico. This is done first, a brief review on the issue of Latin American historiography, Mexican and Spanish. Second, we review the educational system, starting from the general, the legislation to reach the proposed minimum content for the topic. Finally, we analyze the learning units, the true objective of the study, comparing the content and supporting materials that they include. For further analysis, we have worked with the materials arising from legislation and curricula and plans of the past twenty years, so that each one of the two educational levels are analyzed and selected differentiated either by the approval of new plans in the Mexican case, either by the legislative change in the Spanish case. The result, in general, is a profound distinction between the content included in the teaching units of both countries, due to the different learning objectives that are sought in both countries.
