The following thesis contains an analysis of the themes of Diana Son's Stop Kiss and an exploration into the scenic design and production processes. This thesis is divided into sixteen sections. Section one discusses the production history of Stop Kiss, including the University of Arkansas' production. Section two is a short biography of the playwright, Diana Son. Section three is a plot synopsis and section four is a survey of past reviews of productions of Stop Kiss. Section five focuses on research of Gay drama and clarifies the differences between homosexuality in drama and Gay drama. Section six is the thesis statement. Section seven describes the methodology of the thesis. Section eight discusses the significance of Stop Kiss. Section nine focuses on the challenges of the script and section ten cites the parameters given to the production by the Drama Department. Section eleven describes the design process and section twelve summarizes the overall experience of the designer. Section thirteen concludes the body of the thesis. Section fourteen is the bibliography and section fifteen is the appendix, which includes design sketches, production photos, a ground plan, and the designer's script analysis for Stop Kiss.
