The validation of risk assessment measures with adolescent sexual offenders has important implications for supervising, managing and treating these youth. Currently no validated risk measure for this population exists. This study, therefore, set out to evaluate a new risk measure designed to predict sexual recidivism in adolescent sexual offenders (the Estimate of Risk of Adolescent Sexual Offense Recidivism: ERASOR). This study also examined three other measures, two designed to predict risk in adult sexual offenders (The Rapid Risk Assessment of Sexual Offense Recidivism: RRASOR, and the Static-99) and one designed to predict general recidivism in adolescents (Youth Level of Service/Case Management Inventory). A sample of 96 adolescent sexual offenders from the SAFE-T program were assessed using all four risk measures. None of the measures significantly predicted sexual recidivism. Results, however, revealed the ERASOR and YLS/CMI showed some success in predicting other types of recidivism. Implications of these findings are discussed.
