Thesis (M.S.)--Southern Connecticut State University, 2002.
A novel inhibitor of the NF-kappaB pathway, caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE), was found to induce apoptosis in microscopic tumors derived from a metastatic ovarian carcinoma cell line (SKOV-3) and showed enhanced effects in combined chemotherapy with aspirin metabolite sodium salicylate. In addition, this research study investigated the combined chemotherapeutic action of CAPE and Taxol(TM), and sodium salicylate and Taxol(TM), and their effectiveness in the inhibition of tumor growth in vitro.
