Thesis (M.S.N.)--Wilmington College Division of Nursing (Delaware), 2004.
Diabetes is one of the most common chronic conditions facing the pediatric and adolescent population. This disease process presents multiple psychosocial and management challenges to this age group. Nursing students do not typically gain an exposure to this population outside the acute care setting. This project is designed to support a program that would allow nursing students a non-traditional learning experience by participating in a diabetes camping program. Such participation provides a hands on learning experience covering disease management. Nursing students will also have a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of the psychosocial influences and challenges to effective diabetes management that exist outside of the clinical setting.Subjects--Topical Terms:
