Thesis (M.A.)--University of South Alabama, 2003.
Cultivating a Dirt-Covered Kore: Evolution of a Southern Woman is a creative thesis---a mostly autobiographical collection of poetry, essays and short stories, both nonfiction and fiction. It depicts the growth of a simple girl from the foothills of the Ozarks, her ordeal of childhood sexual abuse and finally, the acceptance of her past and heritage which had to occur for her to reach the healing and maturity for which she'd longed. Using the Persephone/Demeter myth as archetype for the collection, the stages of her life are broken down into four parts, or seasons, from which comes rebirth into knowledge.Subjects--Topical Terms:
