The goal of this study was to evaluate the validity of the test items included in nine environmental health & safety (EH&S) computer based training courses. Test item validity was measured by comparing the cognitive domain level of each test item to the cognitive domain level of a matching course objective. Of the 30 objective-test item content pairs, 25 were identified as having matching cognitive domains. Statistical analysis revealed that these results did not occur by chance and the relationship between matched objectives-test items is statistically significant. Additionally, the qualitative analysis revealed that although most (67%) objectives and test items were matched, the courses did not incorporate an appropriate balance across categories of cognitive domains.Subjects--Topical Terms:
