Thesis (M.S.N.)--Wilmington College Division of Nursing (Delaware), 2003.
Employees with substance abuse problems create significant problems in the workplace. These employees are more likely to be less productive, have increased accidents and workers' compensation costs, and cause higher rates of litigation. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of substance abusers are full time employees. Employers have recently begun seeking ways to respond to the changing realities of the workplace. One approach to addressing this problem has been through workplace educational programs. This project was designed to educate workers in a chemical plant about substance abuse. An educational curriculum pertaining to substance abuse in the workplace was designed.
