This thesis argues that Foucault's early historical method is, heavily, influenced by Hegel. I argue that many of the main themes of Hegel's methodology show up in Foucault's early works, especially in <italic>The Order of Things</italic>. Underlying Foucault's philosophy one finds Hegel. Foucault is a closet Hegelian and it is my job to out him. In this thesis I shall endeavor to show the crux of Foucault debt to Hegel.
