This study examines the development of the Bethel Performing Arts Center as a rural economic development catalyst in light of regional and national “best practices” of performing arts centers and the application of Alexander Garvin's six ingredients of success for community development projects. This study illustrates a comparative design to the proposal for the Bethel Performing Arts Center and a new proposal for the Bethel Performing Arts Center with the inclusion of “best practices” as a new model for performing arts centers.Subjects--Topical Terms:

Finally this thesis study establishes a framework that maximizes the symbiotic relationships among location, market, and design. Thus it is best practices that may be useful in assessing the qualities of existing performing arts center developments and to expand the opportunities for the Bethel Performing Arts Center for long-terns economic impact, environmental importance, regional relevance, and distinguished it as a compelling aesthetic.
