The study documented the process of designing and constructing a web-based introductory music therapy course delivered via <italic>Blackboard</italic><super> ®</super> <italic>5.5</italic>. The course adopted <italic>An Introduction to Music Therapy—Theory and Practice</italic> (2<super>nd </super> ed.) (Davis, Gfeller & Thaut, 1999) as the textbook. It consisted of 9 linear learning units, each contained a study guide/learning objectives and supplementary readings. Adopted educational technology media included e-mail, discussion board, virtual classroom, and multimedia files supplementing the discussion of clinical concerns. Students were to be evaluated by online quizzes, an in-class midterm, journals of virtual field trips, contributions on the discussion board, and a book review. Issues observed from the study were discussed according to their implications to the future development of MTDE.Subjects--Topical Terms:
