Thesis (M.A.)--Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center, 2005.
The quest for love is a prominent drive in humankind, a pursuit clearly indicated by the creative energy devoted and expended within society to find, nurture, convey, or engage interpersonal love relationships. This research explores Sternberg's (1988c) eminent love model and Sternberg's (2000) triarchic analysis of intelligence or giftedness as a means to evaluate the potential effects of romantic love on artistic expressions of creativity (Thurstone, 1952).

In this study, the heuristic inquiry defines and explores the effects of love on the researcher's personal experiences of creativity using recollective resources including personal journals, sketchbooks and notes, mementoes, letters, and creative prose. The three types of love relationships include unrequited loves, impossible loves (Bauer, 1993), and uncommon bonds (Achterberg, 1998). Findings indicate that romantic love does affect an individual's sense of creative inspiration, encourages interpersonal creative collaboration, and offers transformative and creative outlets toward self-actualization---those of personal growth and healing.
