The political situation in Spain during Antonio Machado's life left an impression on his persona and his art. Numerous changes in the socio-economic and political arenas set his educational tone and plan in motion. At the turn of the twentieth century, a transformation of sorts in the field of education in Spain became evident. Machado's literature is a summary of Spain's conflicts during that era and the importance of the evolution of education.
