520 $a In the event of the Spanish banking, the growth of the competition and the reduction of the margins, direct results of the integration in Europe, along with the business opportunities in foreign markets, have caused, since the second half of the nineties, its internationalization after a period of national fusions and acquisitions.
520 $a On the other hand, as banking is an intensive activity of use of information, the application of the new information technologies allow to save costs. In a sense, Internet banking, as a new channel of financial distribution, can be interesting to entities and consumers.
520 $a That's why, at the present thesis, we analyse the practicability of the Spanish banking internationalization, through the foundation of Internet banks, and organize it the following way. At the chapters 1 and 2 we have tackled the phenomenons of globalization of the markets and the internationalization of the firms, explaining the theories that in our opinion best have justified, through the ages, the internationalization process. At the chapter 3 we have focused on the sector subject of this study, Spanish banking, concentrating on the phenomenons that recently have concerned it operation, as the financial innovation, the desintermediation, the desregulation and the globalization of the markets. The impact of the new technologies on the banking has been discussed at the chapter 4. At the chapter 5, once we have justified the case study as the best methodology for this analysis, we have carried out the empirical study based on the analysis of the four national banking groups, that shares are selling at Ibex 35. Finally, at the chapter 6 we have put forward the conclusions and some possible future research subjects.
