This investigation deals with the effectiveness of the comic book as a teaching medium, with regard to the lack of adequate reading materials for students with slow reading skills. A variant method of a quasi-experimental design was employed, using two mediums, a comic book (a modified story) and a story from a text book, as the under investigation teaching methods. Both mediums were given to the participants for reading. Two reading tests, one for each medium were used as data collection instruments.

520 $a The sample included a total of 27 students from two different groups, pertaining to a public school at a fifth grade level. The groups were identified as 5-1 group and 5-2 group. These groups had the same "slow reading skills" but at different levels of dexterity. The groups were given two reading tests separately and in a different time (a week) period. Neither group read the two mediums in the same day.
520 $a The experiment demonstrated an increase in the abilities for both groups, using the comic book as a medium to learn most of the basic reading skills. A statistic (T) test, corroborated the results and revealed a significant difference between the effectiveness of the mediums.
