Thesis (M.F.A.)--Mississippi State University, 2004.
From the beginning of human existence, the human form has been a vessel for expressing narrative. Whether from the work of the great masters, or the scribbles of a young child, the depiction of the human form provides the artist with an instant avenue for storytelling. The source of these narratives comes from our inherent reading of the human form, both through body language and the artist's execution of that form in the work. All of these past examples of narrative through the human form have spanned all the artistic mediums and naturally continue to spread into those mediums that are derived from new technology. Trappings of Flesh and Bone explores and creates imagery that expresses a narrative both through implied and conspicuous depiction of the human form using both traditional and new media. Specifically, the exploration in new media will explore digital sculpture as a viable medium for artistic creation, encompassing the technical aspects, methodologies, and aesthetic choices that pertain to the medium.*
