To understand the art we must understand the artist. This document will provide high school students with an interesting door into art history, particularly the art of women throughout history. It is a collection of stories, which read like fiction but are based on historical fact. It is intended to spark the interest of its readers by offering them a way to identify personally with the artists. It is a portal into the art, which is all too often inaccessible and isolated from our culture. It will also serve as a guide and an inspiration for teachers as they question the nature of learning and what it is that engages the student to want to learn.
