The purpose of the study was to examine quantitative archival data previously collected by the Texas Education Agency with the intent of addressing specific factors related to high school dropouts among Hispanic students located in a variety of school districts in the state of Texas, using a non-experimental, exploratory quantitative design. The factors analyzed in the study included: English language proficiency level, attendance, student achievement. These were analyzed using the percentage of students passing the exit level TAKS on their first attempt in tenth grade when combined. Despite the decrease in dropout rates for Hispanic students, there is still a need to address reasons why students, especially students of the Hispanic descent, are dropping out of school. The research design included two phases. Phase I addressed the first three research questions and was conducted using a logistic regression analysis of three predictor variables. Phase II addressed the collective effect using a stepwise logistic regression analysis of the three predictor variables.
