Objectives. This study aims at understanding the possibility of creating a learner-centered teaching environment for students of higher education in the Colleges of Technology in Taiwan. In this study, Ajzen's (2002) Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) was used as a theoretical framework to explore behavioral intentions of adopting learner-centered teaching in the classroom.

Methods. The researcher utilized questionnaire methodology as his main research method. Through Teacher Beliefs Scale, School Structures Scale, Teacher Efficacy Scale, Behavioral Intention Scale, and Actual Behavior Scale to explore the possibility of performing Learner-Centered Teaching within one year. Meanwhile, the collected data were analyzed using both instruments--- SPSS and LISREL---to measure the significance of the findings.

Results. The results showed a significant relationship between intention and actual behavior (classroom management styles). The three characteristics of teacher beliefs---school structures, teacher efficacy and intention---had positive impact; The eleven measurable factors all showed the most explanatory power for the exogenous latent variables of teacher beliefs, school structures, and teacher efficacy. Teacher efficacy was mainly affected by school structures. Teacher beliefs were affected by school structures. All the findings showed positive relationships. Furthermore, the three latent variables (teacher beliefs and school structures; school structures and teacher efficacy; teacher efficacy and teacher beliefs) achieved a statistically significant positive correlation.

Conclusions. The results of this investigation effectively used Ajzen's (2002) TPB model for predicting creating leaner-centered teaching related activities. The results provide evidence to support that the model and observed variables have a middle degree of Goodness of Fit Statistic. The explanatory power reached a degree of probability of 37.8% (R 2 = .378) with regard to the intention of performing learner-centered teaching could effectively be put in place, specifically, in the higher education institutions of technology in Taiwan.
