Results of this study indicated that critical care nurses lack knowledge of the physiology of sleep. Critical care nurses use a number of interventions to promote sleep and value sleep promotion. There was no relationship between critical care experience and knowledge and use of sleep promoting interventions. There was a positive correlation between the number of years of critical care experience and attitudes favoring sleep promotion. There was no relationship between levels of knowledge of sleep and attitudes favoring sleep promotion.
