Books on Meskwaki art are remarkably rare. Over sixty photos of beading, leatherwork, woodcarving, weaving techniques, ceremonial dress, and Pan-Indian art in this paper reveal the unique character of the Meskwaki nation and illustrate the talent they possess. Unlike other tribes, they have not yet become fully integrated into contemporary American ways.

Artists and members of the Meskwaki tribe, powwows in Oklahoma and Iowa, the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History and exhibits at tribal offices in Tama, as well as interviews with Jonathon Buffalo, Gaylord Torrence and Douglas Foley provided a wealth of information that helps portray a realistic view of how art fits into the Meskwaki world.
